AVO Consulting’s principal is Shane Somerville.
Shane has over 25 years’ experience in hospitality, event production, audiovisual design and outsourcing.
Initially working in hospitality as a chef and through various hotel departments including banqueting and front of house, he transitioned to Event Production and Event Management.
From 1990 to 2006 Shane held tenure at Staging Connections in various positions Nationally including Marketing Manager (Vic) and Southern Region Venues Manager. In 2000, Shane became responsible for Staging Connections’ venues nation-wide, taking up the new role of Director of Venue Services.
Shane oversaw Staging Connections’ first in-house operation at the Melbourne Hilton On the Park in 1991 and went on to pioneer with Staging Connections’ founder the company’s now industry standard audiovisual outsourcing model.
As Director of Venue Services, Shane was directly involved in the development and management of nearly one hundred outsourcing contracts. The national role also included direct responsibility for or input into the development of venue contracts, tender responses, pitches, administration, operations, service delivery, equipment installations, compliance, venue marketing and product development.
Through AVO Consulting, Shane provides venues with the benefit of his unique insight into audiovisual outsourcing, delivering them access to a previously unobtainable level of industry-specific knowledge and outsourced audiovisual expertise.
